The Artist Behind the Lens
My name is Mathieu Durnford, nice to meet you! I am a freelance photographer based in Yellowknife, NWT, Canada. I have been taking photos my entire life, and have been working as a photographer for various organizations since 2023. I began my photography journey by taking photos of Canadian landscapes and wildlife to document the places and things around me, and I took an interest in event photography while working in marketing, taking photos for college graduation ceremonies.
Since starting my photography career, I have worked with many different organizations and clients, including Aurora College, the NAIT Students' Association, The NAIT Nugget Newspaper, Northern Mosaic Network, Ptarmicon, Folk On The Rocks, and several others. My experience has included formal corporate events, live music, photojournalism, festivals and conventions, portraits, landscapes, and more, giving me a wide range of photography experience, allowing me to excel in any photography job.
I am passionate about all genres of photography, with a focus on live events, capturing candid shots of genuine moments. I am interested in all sorts of events, and love taking opportunities to capture exciting new experiences. I strive to always learn and grow as a photographer, and to create photos that inspire and showcase the beauty of a given moment.
